Robert A. Nagourney, MD, Laboratory Director
Triple Board Certified in Oncology, Hematology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Nagourney has practiced Medical Oncology for 18 years and serves as the Medical Director of the Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Nagourney has presented papers at national and international meetings and has published more than 75 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts. His publications are found in such journals as Cancer Research, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer Chemotherapy Pharmacology, Oncology, Advances in Clinical Oncology, British Journal of Cancer, Journal of the National Cancer Institute and Gynecologic Oncology. Dr. Nagourney is the principal investigator of several national GOG clinical trials. He teaches pharmacology at the University of California, Irvine and serves as an Editor of the Journal of Medicinal Foods. He founded Rational Therapeutics in 1994. Up Close
Steve Evans BS, MA, Chief Operations Officer
With a Master’s Degree in Experimental Psychology, Steven Evans has personally overseen the establishment and operation of cancer research laboratories for Oncotech, Inc., the UC Irvine/ Long Beach Memorial Cancer Institute’s Laboratory of Experimental Therapeutics and Rational Therapeutics’ current operation. His experience spans a period of 20 years and includes the management of primary histological and cytological culture assay operations. With published experience in flow cytometry and biochemistry, Mr. Evans has co-authored 5 manuscripts and 34 research abstracts and has presented research results at the annual meeting of the American Association of Cancer Research and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Mr. Evans oversees and maintains RTI’s database and data analysis and serves as the liaison to the RTI computer consulting services. Mr. Evans is knowledgeable in all aspects of CLIA and OSHA regulations and compliance and serves as the safety officer for the RTI laboratory.
Shari Burt, Client Services/Marketing Manager
Shari Burt joined RTI in 1996 with eleven years experience in medical laboratory sales, customer service and contract negotiation. With a degree in Retail and Marketing, Shari came to RTI from Physician’s Reference Laboratory where during her seven years as Regional manager, she drove annual sales from $25,000 to over $500,000 in Orange County. At PRL, Shari was employee of the year on two occasions, consistently exceeding sales quotas, new client acquisition and retention goals. As RTI’s Client Services/Marketing manager, she is the principal liaison between Dr. Nagourney and RTI’s client base, including physicians, patients, hospitals and third-party payors. Shari Burt coordinates the company’s marketing and public relations efforts including media coverage, speaking engagements and educational symposia.
