Considerations

We suggest that physicians take into consideration the following issues before making an assay choice.
- Is the assay biologically valid? That is, does it measure an appropriate and scientifically sound endpoint?
The fact is that most assay methods have some biologically valid basis. The EVA-PCD™ method utilizes programmed cell death endpoints, which include apoptotic and non-apoptotic cell death, is irrefutably sound.
- Can the assay discriminate between tumorous and non-tumorous elements?
That is, can it reliably distinguish signal (tumor cell events) from noise (benign contaminants)? Few available techniques meet this crucial criterion. Fortunately, however, the EVA-PCD™ method is uniquely capable of distinguishing signal from noise.
- Do assay results correlate with clinical response or survival in published peer-reviewed literature?
Here again, very few available assays meet this most crucial of all criteria. The most robust and clinically validated assays, though, serve as the basis of Rational Therapeutics™' evaluations.
